West Virginia Democratic Party Mourns the Passing of Former State Senator Herb Snyder
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Democratic Party today mourned the passing of former State Senator Herb Snyder, a dedicated public servant, successful businessman, and tireless advocate for the people of the Eastern Panhandle.
Snyder, who passed away Monday at the age of 72, served Jefferson County and the surrounding region with distinction as a Jefferson County Commissioner before representing the 16th Senatorial District in the West Virginia Senate for 16 years. During his time in the Legislature, he served as Vice Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Chair of the Senate Government Organization Committee, earning a reputation as a thoughtful, pragmatic leader who always put the interests of his constituents first. He believed government should solve problems, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for working families.
