Public Employees

We recognize that the citizens of West Virginia benefit from our hardworking, dedicated, professional employees. We affirm our commitment to a work environment that encourages a meaning voice in decisions that affect them and the public interest.

We applaud the commitment of these unsung heroes who sometimes work long hours, with low pay and under the threat of job loss due to declining federal funds. These are the people who preserve law and order, guarantee safe roads, assist the less fortunate, and provide a host of other needed and desirable services that benefit us all. 

The West Virginia Democrat ic Party is committed to ensuring the long-term financial viability of the Public Employees Insurance Agency, while preserving the quality of benefits.

All West Virginians should have the right to serve in public office. Public employees should also be given the right to run for public office. We should take full advantage of the talents and abilities of all West Virginians, including public and higher education employees.

We call for placing a high priority on providing competitive salaries and benefits for all public employees.
